The Hole in the Wholeness by Melody Treasure

Mandala is a Sanskrit word that means ‘circle’. In many cultures mandalas are used in spiritual and meditative practices.

For me, a mandala represents wholeness, fulfilment and completion.

Painted onto a 4ft by 4ft board, the mandala that I have created for this festival is different, because it will also represent a hole in the wholeness a void in the completeness. This for me is representative of the recent Covid times – I have felt incomplete, without having the closeness of friends and family around me.
